Ryan Felps

I’m Ryan Felps, a Baltimore native. Both sets of my grandparents lived here while I was growing up. I went to Randallstown High School, spent some time at the University of Maryland, College Park, and have built my working life in the Baltimore–Washington area ever since.

My father changed our last name to Felps and kept the F. That’s why it isn’t Phelps. I’ve spent a lifetime spelling it out (F as in Frank, E as in Edward, L as in Larry, P as in Peter, S as in Sam) and watching people write “Phelps” anyway.

I’m a proud, practicing Orthodox Jew. I keep kosher, observe Shabbas, and try to live a Torah-based life in my work, my home, and how I treat people. Some of my favorite hours of the week are spent learning Torah and sitting around the Shabbos table with family and friends.

I’m a proud father to 4 wonderful children. When I’m not working, I’m usually out on the Chesapeake in my 1984 Hunter 25.5, playing guitar, making something from scratch in the kitchen, or sitting around a backyard fire.
